“Scientists say that human beings are made of atoms,
but a little bird told me that we are also made of stories”
– Eduardo Galeano
I am intrigued by the role that stories and personal narratives play in our lives. Words – spoken, written or simply heard – have an energy of their own, opening new frontiers in our external and inner landscapes and weaving aromatically into our soul. With such potent reach, we should choose words carefully.
I’ve been writing for a while now, taking time to organise and polish words, before putting them back in the box for further refining later. But our world is changing fast and my words may never be polished enough for a publisher. Besides, that’s not how words really find their place. Words, like seeds, get carried on the wind and they settle in the most surprising of places. Sometimes even becoming a rose blooming in the desert.
It’s always felt very natural to me to converse with nature and the unseen realm. It is how I navigate my way in life. My writing reflects this. I invite you to journey off the clearly marked road for a time and perhaps take a track that leads to a new vista.
And so, I share some of my stories, vignettes and poems, in full or in part, on this website. There is a link to my Substack account if you wish to subscribe and read further. In 2020 I self-published my book which can be purchased on this site in hard copy for readers in Aotearoa New Zealand or in pdf version. If you are further afield a copy is available on amazon.com. An audiobook version is available on a number of apps.
Read for a spell.
